Siebel Upgrade 8.1.1.11 to IP17

Hello,

We are planning to upgrade our Siebel current version 8.1.1.11.16 to the IP17. We are looking for clear steps of the upgrade, do we need to do a totally new installation of IP17 on a different machine then move the customized repository of the current implementation to the new machine (IP17 environment)? or we can install the IP17 directly on top of the current servers as an upgrade? What about the customer's data (Accounts, Contacts, Orders, Service Requests, Assets & custom tables), how we can move this data to the new environment?
