Batch Enrollment - only for Mandatory & Default plans and stopping benefits?

hello,

need a quick refresher -- can we use Batch Enrollment R083800 to enroll employees in a NON Mandatory or NON Default Plan?  I know we used to be told it's only for mandatory and/or default plans ... and to mass terminate ees from a specific plan.

please advise asap -- thanks much!
