How do you set up pending life insurance on the open enrollment event?

We are using Advance Benefits and would like to allow employees to elect life insurance, but all levels require an EOI.  Is there a way to pend the life insurance elections?  If yes, will the OE event finalize while the life insurance is in a pending state?
