How does the SO find right PriceList

Hi,

When i don't specify the PriceList while creating the Sales order, the sales order form able to find the right PriceList. How is it able to find the right PriceList. Is there any SQL or API available to find the right pricelist to sales order. I am not talking about the defaulting the PriceList.
