How to change the Asset Life in Fixed Assets for multiple assets in thousands

My question is that , we can manually change the life of an asset either in Mass Changes Form or Assets Work Bench (/ Books). Here , we can manually change the life of asset(s) but we need to change the life of 4000's of assets .Doing it manually will take lot of time e, so can you please suggest any other way like some data fix script for other alternative.
