Pros & Cons of loading BOMs in Item Master

We have multiple lines of business sharing the same operating unit. All lines of business have the same item master. Does it make sense to load BOMs into this Item Master? The BOMs in this case belong to a specific line of business.

Can anyone please provide the Pros and Cons of loading Bills of Material into Item Master Organization? Are there any impacts from having BOMs in Item Master?
