Supplier Registration - Manage Request Approval

When our Supplier Administrator  retrieves a registration request that is in a pending status the Pending approvers are listed-Multiple Approvers under Review/ Edit Approvers.  Some of the approvers listed have not been employed here for some time.  Are they listed because they once approved suppliesr in the system?
