Question on EBS internals

I had a question on EBS internals, does the ip address get stored in any of the config files of EBS (R12.2+) or context files etc or just the node name? In other words if the node name remains the same but the underlying ip address changes, what will be the impact on the EBS instance? Will it continue to function normally or are we expected to see issues? Another point if we do see issues are we expected to run a clone to fix it?
