GL segment mapping

How can I map certain GL segment values in Oracle R12 if they have expired and I want the transaction to hit another value. I have some departments that are end dated which are used in too many places to be replaced. I want to do a mapping so the transaction would go to a enabled department. Same is the case with a few accounts.
