Impact of Prepayments on Customer Balance

We are exploring the option to create prepayments in AR using Oracle API. Before moving to development, want to know if prepayments in Oracle affect Customer balance. I believe Prepayments are  liability and should not affect Customer outstanding balance in AR aging and Account Status reports. Can someone confirm pls.
