Hi,

In 11gR2,

INS-32055: The Central Inventory is located in the Oracle base.

    Cause: The Central Inventory is located in the Oracle base.

    Action: Oracle recommends placing this Central Inventory in a location outside the Oracle base directory.

In 12cR2,

[WARNING] [INS-32056] The specified Oracle Base contains the existing Central Inventory location: /oracle/oraInventory.

ACTION: Oracle recommends that the Central Inventory location is outside the Oracle Base directory. Specify a different location for the Oracle Base.

1) Where we need to apply patch before running root.sh....mostly in 12cR2

2) Where we need not to apply any patch before running root.sh
