CopyQuote Datamap ignoring 'Source Search Specification'?

We have added a nocvopy flag to our quote line items BC and quote item (simple) BC, as that is the BC used within the CopyQuote datamap. all new fields are on the map properly.

We have coded the Advanced Options to add a Source Search Specification [NoCopy Flag] = 'N', with the expectation that only those lines that do not have this flag set to Y will be part of the new quote.

After several iterations of multiple search specifications, we are suspecting this advanced option is bveing ignored. We have tried multiple different criteria and syntax - we even purposely put in bad syntax to possible generate an error - but all to no avail. all lines copy and ignore any search spec provided.
