Business Flow: Mfg - Ship - Maintain (Impact on Install Base)

Hello All,

Need some help on this scenario:

We manufactured a machine (Item in INV: MCH; Install Base Instance number: IB123) and then shipped it to the customer (John Doe LLC) via Order Management (Serial Number: SN123). We're also going to maintain (preventive maintenance) this asset after it's sold using EAM.

So, I created an Asset Group called "Machines Group" in Item Master and created an Asset called "Asset_MCH" in EAM. This creates a new IB instance (same number as Asset Name i.e. Asset_MCH)...am I correct (that's atleast what I saw when I did it in the system).
