Goldengate replication issues after setting "_use_single_log_writer"=TRUE?

Using Goldengate replication 12.1.2.1 with database 12.1.0.2. We encountered the hanging database on AIX 7.1, encountering bug#21915719.  The workaround is to set "_use_single_log_writer"=TRUE to revert to pre-12c single log writer process.  Since goldengate replication relies on the redo logs, I'm checking to see if anyone has set the hidden parameter and then had problems with goldengate replication aferwards.
