Present production is a two node Oracle RAC deployment. Recently a new backup solution was implemented which has a dedicated network with a different subnet (80.170.0.*). At present backup runs on single node by invoking RMAN script through backup agent which is communicating with the backup server through the new subnet (80.170.0.*). This current solution is not high available, in order to provide high availability the backup team suggested to configure new SCAN IP from the backup subnet (80.170.0.*) so that in case of any node failure backup agent can invoke the RMAN script from the other node.
