excel values into WCS?

Dears,

using Oracle webcenter sites 11g , Is it right/recommended to update asset values by calling rest API that access the sites DB directly not through the contributor interface and is it error-free and will be supported from oracle if we faced any issue.

Please note that records are about 3000 record in excel.
