Material Returns after the workorder and period close

Dear Team,

Requirement : User wants to return material to warehouse but the work order and period has been closed

we confirmed that we can't return a material against the work order once the work order and period is closed

we suggest them to pass an adjustment for the work order and get material back in to the system as new item through miscellieneous receipt

any other work around to handle this situation
