SSL configuration for 12.1.3

Hi Experts,

we are having EBS 12.1.3 with db version 11.1.0.7 and we want to configure SSL according to doc id

5.3.2

5.3.2 Database

Oracle products such as Oracle Configurator, Order Management, Order Capture, Quoting, iPayment, iStore, and Pricing are leveraging the database as an HTTP client. The implementation of TLS for the Oracle Database Server (which acts as a client sending requests to the Web server) makes use of the Oracle Wallet Manager for setting up an Oracle wallet. Support for SHA-2 certificates requires a database version of 11.2.0.3 or higher. Reference Document 1315291.1.

we only want to configure ssl in apache so it is compulsory we have to upgrade the db also or without upgrade the db can we configure ssl in R12.1.3
