Find records

We are in E1 9.2 toolset. I am importing records into F47042 table. Before I import I would like to check if the record already exists in this table based on SZDOCO field. This field is not in the index. I am not able to do a fetch single or select and fetch next, neither I find a business function. I would not like the idea of changing the standard table index. I would like to know if there are any options or way to verify the record before importing.
