Voucher and GL Distribution screen - Standard Vouchers

Hi Gurus,

I want to know the significance of 2 screens - Vouchers & GL Distribution. I believe both of the screens are independent from each other as you can enter voucher for any amount and distribute the same in any GL account.

Apart from that there are tax,tax area, tax ex code on voucher screen while tax ex code and tax rate areas on GL distribution screen. What is use of tax ex code and tax rate area on GL distribution screen?
