How to configure Oracle Net encryption.

How do I configure Oracle Net encryption and verify connections are encrypted? Oracle DB versions 10.2.0.4, 11.2.0.4 and 12.1.2.

I've configured sqlnet.ora on both the client and the DB server with SQLNET.ENCRYPTION_CLIENT/SERVER=requested. But I can't tell if the connection is encrypted.
