Restricting employee to use SIT once only

He guys,

Hope you all doing great.

I wanted to know if there any simple way to restrict the employee to use an SIT only once.

there is one thing that comes to my mind is that to create a function and use it as an attribute in AME to check the whether the SIT previously has been submitted or not. and put it in the condition,

This way when the employee tries to submit the SIT again, the condition will be fulfilled and AME wont allow to move in to approval stages.

I want to know if there is an easier way to this??
