Dataguard and 2 standby databases + flashback

Hi All,
I currently have one primary database and two physical standby (1 and 2) databases in a dataguard configuration. Flashback is enabled with retention of 48 hours on all three databases.
We are going to need to do a switchover to standby 1, then upgrade our application by running various scripts etc. The business have the following requirements if it all goes wrong.
1. We need to switch back to the Old Primary and use flashback database to revert to, say just before the switchover happened.
2. Then we need to keep dataguard working with all three databases in sync without having to recreate any of the standby databases.
