Applying 01/18 PSU patch taking me into a pre-requisite loop

1. I'm attempting to install Jan 18 PSU patch 27338041.

Errors out with:

Composite Patch : 27338041

        Conflict with 20404176

Detail Conflicts/Supersets for each patch are:

Sub-Patch : 27338041

        Conflict with 20404176

        Conflict details:

        /u01/app/oracle/product/12102/lib/libserver12.a:kkp.o

        /u01/app/oracle/product/12102/lib/libserver12.a:kpokgt.o

Refer to My Oracle Support Note 1299688.1 for instructions on resolving patch conflicts.

UtilSession failed: Inter-conflict checking failed in apply incoming patches

Log file location: /u01/app/oracle/product/12102/cfgtoollogs/opatch/opatch2018-05-08_10-13-06AM_1.log

2. Therefore, I utilize the 'analyze for conflict' tool and it shows that I have to install patch 20404176.

3. Installing patch 20404176
