Does V16/17 out of box support vertex WS integration ?

Hello community,

one quick question -   does base v16/17 support vertex tax integration ? I see Xservices has Tax services.  is that a standard way to integrate with any tax system ? I believe the services is to consume data and load it on Xcenter db right ?  Please let me know your thoughts.
