R12.2. When appsTier install fails, do I have to delete the dbTier too, or can I just delete the app

Hi,

I am installing R12.2 in a split config. Rapidwiz successfully installed the dbTier on the first server, but is now failing on the appsTier server due to an incompatible binutils RPM. Doc id 1596433.1 says to delete the install directory, oraInventory and /tmp, but does that mean just on the appsTier and restart from there? If it means dbTier too, and start from the very beginning, this could turn into one very long process if the appsTier install keeps on failing for different reasons (which I expect it will).
