MO: Operating Unit in site level is null

Hello, We are in R12.1.3 and while verifying profile options in site level, we saw that 'MO: Operating Unit' and 'HR: Business Group' profile are empty in site level. After searching in MOS we understand that 'MO: Operating Unit' is required for multi-org setup and it is very important. Can we update these profile now, even though users are entering daily transactions in the system? Does it have any impact? Thanks and Regards, L
