Oracle Client 12cR2 Java update

I have just installed Oracle Client 12cR2 on a Linux x86_64 system and noticed that the Java version is not the latest. How do I patch the Client installation so that it uses a more recent version (minimum 8u101 but prefer 8u172)? Also, where can I find the documentation needed to perform the patch correctly?
