Questions about PM Tolerance in Days

I am working with PM tolerance in days, but I am getting different results depending on the instance I am working in.  Before I reach any conclusions, I would appreciate some clarification on the following:

1. Is tolerance in days considered when forecasting in the maintenance workbench?  Or is it limited to the Generate Work Orders process?

2. Is tolerance in days considered for all PM schedules for an asset, or only within the PM schedule where the tolerance is identified? For example, asset A has 3 activities.  Activities 1 and 2 share a PM schedule, and a tolerance is identified.  Activity 3 has its own schedule, and there is no tolerance identified.  Would the tolerance for activities 1 and 2 affect production of activity 3?
