TNSNAMES.ORA alternative

Hello All,

We're looking for alternatives to pushing out the tnsnames.ora file to hundreds of clients.

Is there a way to replace tnsnames.ora while allowing clients to use the existing connection strings?

I have read a little about EZConnect and Oracle Internet directory, both seem either unsuitable (requires connection string changes) or overly complex.

Can anyone give testimony to their experience for what works for a tnsnames.ora alternative.

Appreciate any feedback I can get.
