What if vendor name change

For some reason, our vendor changed his name and then we changed it in EBS system. What is the effect to historical data?

1. For audit purpose, we would like to keep historical PO using old vendor name. But when I browse for those PO, it was changed to new name.

2. When I dig into the database, I find that PO table keeps vendor ID and does not keep its name. Thought this is the reason why old PO using new vendor name.

I am newbie to EBS in which I come from JDE that JDE keeps vendor name in PO table and also there is a journal function of vendor attribute changing. Is there any similar function in EBS and where is the path?
