How can I call Business Functions from a Java program?

Hi,

I need to invoke Business Functions in different releses of JDE (Xe to 9.2) from a Java program. Is there any other option different than using Java Connector or Java APIs to invoke AIS REST Services?

With AIS server we can create a custom application to invoke a BSFN, but my doubt is if AIS can work with Xe.
