Is there a way to enable an existing contact of a Party as a supplier contact?

We are on Oracle EBS 12.1.3. I am seeing that there is not a way to enable an existing contact of a Party (Organization) as a supplier contact. Thus if the contact is already created at the party level I cannot use that contact name as a supplier contact. To have a contact on the supplier screens I have to create a new contact. This creates a duplicate of the contact at the party level if the same contact has been previously created at the party level.

Is there anyone who has experienced this?
