Web Adi additions - Asset descriptions changed when uploaded. Extra spaces and characters are added

When attempting to upload asset data using Web Adi addition, the rows are uploaded succesfully. But when we check the rows in 'Prepare Mass Additions' window to post them, the descriptions are different from source data. It is automatically adding special characters (? %, etc) and leading, trailing spaces.

What could be causing this problem?
