Patching the Stage Area is it mandatory?

Hello,

during performing the upgrade process from R12.1.3 to R12.2 following the e73540.pdf, i build the stage using the buildStage.cmd and immediately i started the rapid install wizard to created the upgrade file system (completed successfully) but unfortunately i forgot to patch the stage area (Patch 25525148)

Question:

can i continue my upgrade process without issue?

any advice?
