Solution for keeping dump files that exported from HP_UX for future importing to Linux

edited Jun 12, 2018 2:59PM in Database Utilities (MOSC) 5 commentsAnswered

We have migrated all databases from HP_UX (Itanium) 64-bit to RedHat Linux 64-bit, and all HP boxes will be decommissioned.

We have datapump dump files that backup to tapes and will keep 7 years.

I check and see the endian format for HP and Linux are not the same.

If we don't have HP_UX on hand, and application need to restore data from backup on tapes, how can we restore them to Linux without HP_UX?

PLATFORM_ID PLATFORM_NAME                                                                                         ENDIAN_FORMAT

----------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------

          1 Solaris[tm] OE (32-bit)                                                                               Big

          2 Solaris[tm] OE (64-bit)                                                                               Big

          3 HP-UX (64-bit)                                                                                        Big

          4 HP-UX IA (64-bit)                                                                                     Big

Howdy, Stranger!
