How to setup security on Smartlist?

I have a situation which when I add a new hire requisition, in the pay type drop list, I want different department see different value in the dropdown list. But because in EPBCS, this drop down list is from Smartlist. I added security on Pay Type dimension, but looks like its not working on smartlist. User still can see all pay type in the list, not per the security on Pay type dimension setup. Anyone has similar experience or any suggestion? Thanks.
