iSupplier Registration

My current client doesn't use the standard process where you can register (or invite) a supplier user who then gets the notification, etc.  They've turned off the notifications because they require the supplier users to install certificates on their desktops.  All communication is done outside Oracle.  Has any one else come across a similar process for iSupplier?
