Customer Interface - to create customer with certain account number

I am using RACUST Customer Interface for the customers conversion and need to create customer with the certain Customer Number - how can I do that  if we have Auto Numbering flag for the customer set to 'Y'. May I temporarily set it to No and complete the conversion and then set it back to 'Y'?  Will we have a problem in future because future sequence number could be reused during the conversion in this case? What are my options?
