Creating an alias

I have 12.1 grid installation.

I want to create an alias on an existing file.

On ASMCMD I issue :

mkalias +DATAC1/DBNAME/DATAFILE/undotbs1.569.970479799 undo01.dbf

The alias in created on the filesystem but it is not part of the database. How do I know if this alias is part of the database and if it is not yet how do I make it part of the database?
