Can you generate a SSCC without UPC in EnterpriseOne?

Can you generate a SSCC without UPC-128 in EnterpriseOne? If so, how can you go about doing this?

We have turned on transportation and are trying to set up labels to print. The issue we are runing into is: in order to get carton/pallet serial numbers on the ASN, the packing data needs to be added to the SO Pack Confirm table (F4216). However, when generating UCC-128/SSCC serial numbers, a UPC must be set up in the Item Master otherwise the system will not write the records to F4216. The system will still create the cartons/serial numbers in the Carton Detail table (F4620).
