Where should first meter reading be entered in JDE?

When we want to use Meter reading functionality on a piece of equipment which is already in JDE equipment master for few years, where should the first meter reading be entered in - Current meter reading or original meter reading?

For example, equipment A is defined in equipment master before 2 years. It has hour meter reading as 3000 but was never tracked in JDE. If we want to put this reading in JDE, it should be added as 'new meter reading' or 'original meter reading'?
