Purge SLA Data

We find that we have 4 Billion record in xla_distribution_links.  As a result we are seeing Create Accounting process taking hours to complete.  We are looking for a way to archive/purge that data.  Oracle says they have no way of doing so.

Anyone else encounter this issue?  How have you over come it?  I heard about a program called outerbay but they seem to have disappeared.

Any and all help would be appreciated.
