Testing Notification feature

Following the procedure as per the Doc ID 2356747.1  till step 10 trying to test the notification feature as given in step 11. But unfortunately getting the below error message.

Can someone suggest what could go wrong. Just an info that i am just testing the notification at bell icon and not the mail feature as i do not have SMTP server.
