GL Date is not consistent when applying in receipts

Hi,

When applying invoice and credit memos in receipts, the GL date is picking up payment (receipt) date but not the apply date.  When a manual credit memo is applied, the GL date is picking up the credit date.  Is there reason why the GL date is not the same as the applied date?
