Database Performance issu After Using Segment Advisor Recommendation

I shrink and compressed indexes and tables using the recommendations from Segment Advisor in OEM, and the application run significate slower. I analyzed the schemas and the speed was not improved. I have to restore the database prior to the shrinking and compressing. The application seem to get back to the previous speed.

Does anyone experience this before? Is it normal for shrinking and compression to degrade database performance? Anyway to reverse the shrinking and compression without restoring the database?
