How does a VM export/publish its IP to OVM Manager?

Dear OVM fans, users and experts,

We're quite puzzled by a minor issue affecting a VM created from scratch versus another VM derived from an oracle-provided template.

In OVMManager, the latter shows its ("internal") IP address on the details page, while my freshly created VM does not... I will attach two screenshots for you to see the difference.

My question is: how are VMs supposed to "export" or "publish" their IP addresses (configured only inside the VMs) to OVMMgr?

The problem isn't soo minor, as with a lot of VMs, the VM's IPs being visible outside is a great help in quickly identifying a certain VM.
