SUN sparc T1000/Solaris 10 - Unable to get to ok prompt - Serial port connection closes when poweron

Background - system used as DEV web server - no kvm, keyboard, or display on the rack. The system was accessed successfully via putty over SSH until network admins upgraded some switches. The system is assigned a static IP, but apparently the IP reservation  was removed from the DC some time during or soon after the switches were upgraded. I didn't notice, as apparently I was viewing cached pages from the web server when I would check it daily and I didn't actually log in to the Solaris server for approximately 2 weeks.The network crew restored the IP reservation, but
