Performance issue with custom program post 12c database upgrade

We have done the EBS database upgrade  from  11.2.0.4  to 12.1.0.2  last month  and now we are observing  performance  issue with  few custom programs  . those program were running fine  post upgrade until first two week and then performance degradation was observed ,  some of the program which took 1 min  until first two week of  post upgrade, suddenly we are observing performance degradation  and its now  taking hour to complete .   what would be the cause  (like if sql  plan change then  how the sql plan got changed )  specially when  there was code freeze in place .

Can any one recommend  better approach to fix the performance  issue with custom programs  post database upgrade
