Set up an alert for total float

We are trying to set up an alert for a Project, based on the total float of the activities, that will make the system to notify us when an activity has negative float we are alerted. We already did that once, a few months ago but we are not able anymore to recreate it.

Maybe we are missing something on the previous procedure, maybe we don't understand very well the principle of the alerts, but this sounds quite a plausible configuration so we do not really understand what is happening.

Any remarks or suggestions?
